Florida ranked No. 23 in USA Today Coaches' Poll, among eight SEC teams in Top 25
Florida will start the season ranked in at least one national poll. The Gators are ranked No. 23 in the USA Today, Coaches' Poll, which was released today.
Florida is one of eight SEC teams ranked among the Top 25.
Oklahoma, coached by former UF assistant Bob Stoops, is the preseason No. 1 team.
Among the SEC teams, Alabama is ranked No. 2, LSU is No. 4, South Carolina (12), Arkansas (14), defending national champion Auburn is No. 19, Mississippi State (coached by former UF assistant Dan Mullen) is No. 20 and Georgia is No. 22.
Gators' coach Will Muschamp is not one of the 59 voting coaches, but South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier, Illinois coach Ron Zook, Marshall coach Doc Holliday, Southern Miss coach Larry Fedora and Louisville coach Charlie Strong are among the voters. All are former UF head or assistant coaches.
And if you're wondering why people are predicting the Gators will struggle this year, consider this: Florida will face six teams ranked in the USA Today Top 25: Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida State. Those teams were a combined 60-21 in 2010.
