Florida runner Cory McGee named SEC Co-Women's Runner of the Week

Cory McGee is the SEC Co-Women’s Runner of the Week for her performance at the Crimson Tide Indoor Opener this past weekend.

McGee, who was the SEC Indoor Women’s Runner of the Year as a freshman, opened the 2013 season with her first race in the women’s 800 meters. McGee recovered from a near-stumble to win the race in 2:09.01. Her time is the fastest in the NCAA this year and ranks among the top-15 in the world this indoor season.

McGee was a three-time All-American last season and took home a sixth-place finish in the women’s 1,500 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Her performances in the mile and the distance medley relay earned her All-America status indoors.

Florida's next meet will be Thursday at the Gator Invitational. The meet will begin at 2 p.m.
