Florida safety Dorian Munroe out 5-6 weeks with another knee injury

Dmunroe Dorian Munroe, a redshirt senior who missed all of last season after he tore the ACL in his right knee, will miss five to six weeks with another injury to the same knee.

Munroe underwent arthroscopic surgery Monday morning to repair a tear in his meniscus. Munroe was injured in practice late last week.

The 5-foot-11 safety from Miami had battled his way back into a most likely starting position.

"That hurts us,'' UF coach Urban Meyer said. "That hurts him. We love him. He had it done this morning, We were hoping it was not going to need the scope but it did. Friday or Saturday was when he dinged it. We were hoping they didn’t have to do it, but they told us over the weekend they had to and he had it done this morning.''

Meyer said the staff will now take a closer look at freshman Dee Finley and freshman Josh Evans to see if they'll be able to step up and help in Muroe's absence.
