Florida shortstop Nolan Fontana invited to national team trials

NOLANFONTANA Florida freshman shortstop Nolan Fontana has been invited to the 2010 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Trials, July 5-11 at the National Training Complex in Cary, N.C.

Fontana will compete for a spot on the final 22-man roster that will be selected on July 11. The team will then tour across the United States, with the summer season culminating July 30-Aug. 7 at the FISU World University Baseball Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

Fontana has started all 42 games at shortstop this season, committing just one error in 191 chances for a .995 fielding percentage. He leads the No. 6 Gators (31-11/15-6 SEC) with 34 walks, is second in runs (34) and third in on-base percentage (.429). Fontana is fourth on the squad with a .280 average and has 15 RBI, eight doubles and six stolen bases.
