Florida takes 13-3 halftime lead over Florida State
In a rivalry in which the Gators have scored a total of just 14 points in the past two games, Florida has scored 13 in the first half to take a 13-3 lead over Florida State at halftime.
Florida kicker Caleb Sturgis has hit field goals of 39 and 45 yards, and senior RB Mike Gillislee has a 9-yard touchdown run for the Gators.
But Florida has also had some missed scoring opportunities. Following a Matt Elam interception, the Gators drove to the FSU 26-yard line, but on 4th and-1 opted for a trick play instead of a field goal. The pass from Trey Burton to Clay Burton was incomplete and the Gators came away empty.
Florida LB also had an interception of FSU quarterback EJ Manuel that gave the Gators the ball on the FSU 24 yard line, but the Gators finished that drive with -18 yards and no points.
Florida has 192 yards of total offense, FSU has 109. The Florida defense has held FSU's stellar running backs to 44 yards rushing.
Florida State ended the half on a positive note with a 50-yard field goal by Dustin Hopkins as the first half expired.
