Florida trails BYU 35-33 at halftime
It's halftime and the Gators are trailing by two in the first round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.
Florida, the No. 10 seed, led BYU 28-21 with 7:02 remaining in the first half, but the Cougars closed out the first half on a 14-5 run. The Gators scored just one field goal in the final seven minutes.
During the run, BYU sophomore guard Michael Lloyd, Jr. scored 10 points in 1:43.
Florida shot 46 percent form the field, but just 3-of-10 from 3-point range. BYU shot 57.1 percent from the field, 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.
The Gators were hurt when center Vernon Macklin picked up his second foul and was removed from the game with 11:22 remaining in the first half. That allowed BYU to score much more easily inside with freshman Erik Murphy and junior Alex Tyus stepping in for Macklin.
If Florida has any chance in the second half, Macklin has to stay out of foul trouble.
