Florida's Chandler Parsons is SEC Player of the Week
Chandler Parsons played so hard for the Gators last week that he never came out of the game in the second half against Kentucky.
The Gators went 2-0 last week against SEC East rivals Vanderbilt and Kentucky, and Parsons was a huge part of that success.
On Monday, his efforts were recognized by the SEC when Parsons was named SEC Player of the Week.
Parsons averaged 17.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals in wins over No. 23 Vanderbilt and No. 10 Kentucky.
It marked Florida’s first back-to-back wins over ranked teams since 2007. He opened the week with an 18-point 11-rebound showing in the Gators’ overtime victory over Vanderbilt - scoring four of the Gators’ final seven points in overtime and sealing the game with a defensive rebound off of a Vanderbilt missed 3-pointer.
Against Kentucky he scored 17 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out five assists with no turnovers. Parsons hit 6-of-10 shots and 2-of-4 attempts from 3-point range.
Florida's next game is at South Carolina on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
