Florida's mission on Saturday is twofold: avenge 2008 loss and remain undefeated at home
Florida's ultimate goal on Saturday is to defeat South Carolina so the Gators continue to control their own destiny in the race for the SEC East title.
But there are other factors at work.
Florida DB Josh Evans said the Gators are seeking revenge for the loss at the Swamp two years ago - when Gamecocks' coach Steve Spurrier was doused with a Gatorade bath and carried to midfield after South Carolina earned its first SEC East title.
And there's trying to make sure they don't lose at home this season, something the players said coach Will Muschamp discusses often.
“All the time, all the time,'' Evans said. "That’s something he’s talking to us about every day, you know, holding down the Swamp and making sure we’re keeping everybody happy. That’s one thing, you don’t like to do, it’s a bad day when you lose at the Swamp. Everybody is down. It takes a lot to get back after that. So winning in the Swamp means a lot to this defense and this team.”
