Forget Texas, Steve Addazio headed to Temple

Florida offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Steve Addazio isn't going to Texas afterall.

He's going to Philly.

Addazio has been hired as the new head coach at Temple. He will replace Al Golden, who was hired last week as the new head coach at Miami.

Addazio is expected to be introduced Thursday at a press conference.

On Tuesday, reported that Addazio had been hired to take over as the OL coach at Texas, but apparently that option was a backup if he did not get the Temple job.

In six seasons at UF,  he was the O-line coach for five,  and was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2009.

Addazio is expected to stay with the Gators through the Jan. 1 Outback Bowl against Penn State.

New Florida head coach Will Muschamp has said he would meet with current Gator assistant coaches, and said some might be retained, but the overriding opinion was that Addazio would not be retained - at least not in his current position.

Former St. Petersburg Catholic and current UF offensive lineman Jon Halapio sent his well-wishes out to Addazio via his Facebook page.
