Former Blake standout TE Michael McFarland will transfer from Florida
Former Tampa Blake standout TE Michael McFarland is the latest Florida player to leave the program, Florida coach Will Muschamp announced on Friday.
The 6-foot-6, 235-pound redshirt freshman dressed for three games at Florida this past season, but did not see any game action.
"Michael and I have come to the conclusion that it is in his best interest to transfer from the University of Florida," Muschamp said in a statement. "We wish him the best as he continues his career somewhere else."
McFarland was once rated the No. 12 TE in the nation by Scout.com. He chose UF over Auburn, Boston College, South Carolina and South Florida.
McFarland is the fifth UF player to transfer since new head coach Will Muschamp took over in January. Muschamp said during his April visit to Tampa that he will not try and persuade players who want to leave to stay, and will help those who chose to leave in any way he can.
