Former Florida catcher Mike Zunino signs $4 million deal with Seattle Mariners

Mike Zunino, the No. 3 overall selection of the 2012 MLB Draft has signed a contract with the Seattle Mariners.

According to Baseball America, Zunino signed for $4 million. He will be introduced at a news conference this afternoon at Safeco Field at 4 p.m. The news conference can be viewed on

Zunino is the highest draft pick in school history and the 2012 Dick Howser Trophy and Johnny Bench Award winner. Seven of nine players taken from head coach Kevin O’Sullivan’s club in June’s Draft have now signed deals.

Zunino, a consensus first-team All-American, the first Dick Howser Trophy recipient from Florida, Baseball America’s 2012 College Player of the Year and the first Johnny Bench Award winner from UF, is one of three finalists for the Golden Spikes Award that will be presented this Friday.
