Former Gator Gary Brown receives probation
Former Florida DT Gary Brown, who was dismissed from the team in February, has reached an agreement with the Gainesville State Attorney's Office in a case that stemmed from an incident at an off-campus party.
Brown was originally arrested on two misdemeanor counts of battery after he was accused of striking a woman in the face with his open hand as she attempted to get people to leave a party at a Gainesville apartment complex. When another woman tried to intervene, she was allegedly scratched by Brown as he tried to slap her arms away, police reports stated.
Brown entered into a deferral agreement which will be filed later this week, and includes six months' probation, a $150 fine or 12 hours of community service, and an agreement to undergo alcohol abuse evaluation/treatment.
Brown, who was the No. 2 DT coming out of high school, did not see action for the Gators in 2009.
