Former Gator Jason Williams signed by Orlando Magic



After sitting out the 2008-09 season, former Gator Jason Williams has come out of retirement and signed a free agent contract with the Orlando Magic.

The 6-foot-1 Williams played 67 games in 2007-08 with the Miami Heat, where he averaged 8.8 points and 4.6 assists in 28 minutes per game. He announced his retirement on Sept. 26, 2008.

Williams was a transfer from Marshall who played one season at Florida (1997-98). He averaged 17.1 points and 6.7 assists per game. He was the seventh overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft. He was a member of Miami's 2005-06 NBA Championship team.
