Former Gator Mike Blakely reportedly enrolls at Auburn
Former Florida RB Mike Blakely, who decided to transfer earlier this month, has enrolled at Auburn University according to AuburnSports.com.
When Blakely asked to transfer, his stiupulations were reportedly that he could not transfer to an SEC school, Florida State or Miami. But citing sources, the website said the 5-foot-9, 195 pound former Bradenton Manatee standout has enrolled at Auburn and began classes today.
Auburn was among Blakely's top three schools when he was recruited out of high school, along with Florida and South Carolina. He decided to leave the Florida program on May 10. Although an early enrollee at Florida in January, Blakely did not participate in the spring game due to a shoulder injury.
He was rated the No. 6 RB in the nation by Rivals.com in the 2011 recruiting class. Blakely will have to sit out the 2011 season, then will have four years of eligibility remaining.
When he visited Tampa on May 12, Florida coach Will Muschamp said he would deal with every student athlete who wishes to transfer on an individual basis, and would not have a blanket rule on whether he will limit where a former player can play after he leaves Florida.
