GAINESVILLE - Former All-American Abby Wambach is among 18 players selected Wednesday for the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup team.

It is Wambach's second Women's World Cup appearance; she was also a member of the 2003 team. She led the USA in scoring at the 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup and the 2004 Olympics. Her 74 current goalsin 92 USA appearances is the best strike rate in U.S. history.

A four-time member of the All-SEC first team and two-time SEC Player of the Year, Wambach is the Gators' career leader in goals (96), assists (50), and points (242), and is sixth on the NCAA career charts in goals and points.
