a._murray.jpegGeorgia QB Aaron Murray, a former Plant standout, has been named the SEC Football Community Service Team Player of the Week for Week 3 of the SEC football season.

Murray has visited children at camps, schools and hospitals.  His visits have included Camp Sunshine (camp for children with cancer), Egleston Children’s Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital and mentoring students at Thomas Lay After-School Program.

Murray helped coordinate a student-athlete fundraiser around Thanksgiving for a worthy family with a student at Barrow Elementary School, a UGA Athletic Association partner in education.  He also served as an escort for participants in a fundraiser for Extra Special People’s “Big Heart Pageant”, an organization assisting individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

He volunteered and assisted with “Countdown to Kickoff” the charitable event co-hosted by former Georgia players and current Bulldogs to benefit Children’s Health Care of Atlanta, the UGA College of Education and the Georgia Transplant Foundation.

Murray is also a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
