Former UF broadcaster Steve Babik sentenced
Former University of Florida Gator Radio Network broadcaster Steve Babik was sentenced on Friday to 151 months in federal prison for the receipt and distribution of child pornography, U.S. Attorney Pamela C. Marsh announced.
Babik, 50, who was best known for his sideline reporting at Gator football games, will also have a lifetime of supervised release as part of his sentencing.
Federal authorities said they gathered evidence that showed between June 2008 and November 2009, Babik’s computer was identified 326 times offering different known child pornography files for distribution. On November 30, 2009, a federal search warrant executed at Babik’s residence, resulted in the seizure of 107 videos and eight still images of child pornography, authorities said.
Babik was a member of the Gator Radio Network for more than two decades.
