Gainesville baseball regional to include Miami, Jacksonville and Manhattan
Florida will open the NCAA Baseball Tournament against Manhattan, the NCAA announced today, in a regional that will once again include state powerhouse Miami. The Hurricanes also played in the Gainesville regional last season.
Florida is one of 16 NCAA Regional baseball sites that begin play this weekend. The Gators are the No. 2 overall national seed.
The Gators (45-16) will play Manhattan (34-17) on Friday. Miami (36-21) will play Jacksonville University (36-21) in the other game in the Gainesville regional.
The four teams will compete at McKethan Stadium in a double-elimination tournament, with the winner advancing to the best-of-three
Super Regional to be held the following weekend at eight different sites.
The Gator Ticket Office began accepting on-line ticket orders only from current baseball season-ticket holders for the today at 9 a.m. at www.GatorZone.com/tickets. The Gator Ticket Office will be closed today in observance of Memorial Day, but will begin accepting telephone or in-person orders from current baseball season-ticket holders starting at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 31.
