Gal Co-Scholar Athlete Of The Year

GAINESVILLE - Florida junior golfer Sandra Gal was named Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year and a first-team All-SEC selection Thursday afternoon. She shares the award with Kentucky's Beth Felts, a junior pre-physical therapy and business management major with a 4.0 GPA.

Gal is the first Gator golfer to ever win the award. Her first team all-conference selection is the 14th by a Florida player during the nine-year tenure of head coach Jill Briles-Hinton, the eighth consecutive year a Gator has earned all-conference honors.

An advertising major with a 3.72 GPA, Gal has also been named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Golf teams in 2005 and 2006. She owns a team-best 72.46 stroke average this season.
