Gator baseball team one win away from SEC title
With its 3-2 victory over South Carolina Thursday night, the Florida baseball team is one win away from winning its first SEC regular season title since 2005.
The Gators and Gamecocks will play the second game of a three-game series today at 7 p.m.
On Thursday, junior Kevin Chapman closed the game with two scoreless innings to help the No. 4 Gators (29-12/21-7 SEC) to the victor in front of 8,188 fans - the third-highest total in Carolina Stadium history. It was Chapman's ninth save of the season.
The Gators tied the school’s single-season record with their 21st victory in league play and improved their winning streak to six games.
Tampa's Alex Panteliodis went just 3.1-innings, which was his shortest start of the season and the first time he did not work at least five innings.
