Gator baseball team ranked preseason No. 7 by Baseball America

After finishing last season one game shy of advancing to the College World Series, the Florida baseball team will open 2010 ranked No. 7 by Baseball America.

It is the first time since 2006 that Florida has appeared in Baseball America's preseason rankings - the Gators were No. 3 that year. Florida will open the season on Feb. 19 at McKethan Stadium in a three-game series against USF.

Florida was 42-22 last season and won the SEC East for the first time since 2005, finishing one game behind LSU and Ole Miss for the league crown.

The Gators return 20 letterwinners, including 10 pitchers and five players who saw the majority of time at their position last season, including three Tampa players: 2009 SEC Co-Freshman of the Year and NCBWA Freshman Hitter of the Year first baseman Preston Tucker and pitchers Alex Panteliodis and Tommy Toledo.
