Gator football player arrested

FHAMMOND Florida spokesman Steve McClain said Sunday that Gator football player Frankie Hammond, Jr., 20, has been suspended from all team activities after an early morning arrest on charges of driving under the influence and possession of alcohol by a minor.

According to University of Florida police, the redshirt sophomore receiver from Hollywood was speeding, swerving and driving with two open bottles of alcohol in his car Sunday morning.

Police allege Hammond, who came out of spring practice contending for a starting job in the fall, was exceeding the 20-mph speed limit while swerving on Gale Lemerand Drive on Florida's campus at 2:09 a.m.
