Gator freshman guard Nimrod Tishman cleared to play
Nimrod Tishman, the Florida freshman guard from Tel Aviv, Israel, has been cleared by the NCAA and is eligible to compete for the Gators this season.
Previously, Tishman had only been cleared to practice while he awaited a final decision by the NCAA Clearinghouse.
Florida coach Billy Donovan said previously that he had no reason to believe that Tishman wouldn't be declared eligible to play, but that because he was such a late addition to the team, and because the process of clearing students from overseas is so complicated, it was taking longer to obtain NCAA clearance.
The 6-foot-5, 182 pound Tishman has been practicing with the team since fall drills began two weeks ago.
The Gators open the exhibition season Nov. 2 against St. Leo, and will begin regular season play on Nov. 15 against Stetson.
