Gator lacrosse player named conference Rookie of the Year

AshleyBruns Florida freshman attacker Ashley Bruns on Tuesday was named the 2010 American Lacrosse Conference Rookie of the Year. Bruns' teammates Brittany Dashiell and Jamie Reeg were selected to the ALC Second Team.

Bruns led the Gators in goals (44) and assists (30), and ranks second in the conference in scoring and seventh nationally with 4.63 points per game. She also ranks second in the conference in assists per
game (1.88) and fourth in goals per game (2.75). She was selected as the National Player of the Week on April 5 following her performance against Oregon and No. 14 Penn State. Bruns was selected as the ALC Rookie of the Week three times this season and was named the national Rookie of the Week on two occasions.

“I’m so proud of all three of these girls,” head coach Amanda O’Leary said. “They’ve worked so hard this season and this is a big honor for each of them. They are very deserving and they have each played a big part in the success we’ve had this year.”
