Gator lacrosse team concludes inaugural regular season

The inaugural regular season of the Florida lacrosse team came to an end Sunday with a 19-5 loss at No. 2 Northwestern.

Florida concluded the regular season with a  9-7 record, 1-4 in American Lacrosse Conference play. With 25 of its 29-member roster comprised with freshman, it's not surprising that the Gators struggled this season. Florida chose to join the American Lacrosse Conference - the toughest in the nation - which includes five-time defending national champion Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Vanderbilt, Johns Hopkins and Georgetown.

The Gators will begin preparations for the ALC tournament, which begins this week in Columbus, Ohio. After tiebreaking procedures in conference play, the Gators ended up as the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 seed Johns Hopkins at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The winner will face No. 2 seed Vanderbilt on Friday at 5:30 p.m. in the ALC tournament semifinals.
