Gator LB Jelani Jenkins improving, will have pin removed next week

Florida LB Jelani Jenkins was re-examined by doctors today and is expected to have the pin removed from his surgically-repaired broken thumb in next week, coach Will Muschamp said today.

"In eight days they will pull the pin out and take a look at it,'' Muschamp said. "He's going to start lifting and running today, and we'll move on from there.''

Jenkins was originally scheduled to be out at least four weeks.

Muschamp said DL Dominique Easley was on crutches this week "trying to stabilize" his knee, which continues to have swelling problems.

"I would say he's questionable for the game,'' Muschamp said.

OL Matt Patchan, an Armwood alum, will miss Saturday's game with a strained pectoral muscle. He has not played this season and Muschamp said today he's unsure when he'll be able to return.
