Gator men's track team takes over No. 1 in latest poll
On the heels of winning its first SEC outdoor championship title since 1987, the Florida men’s track and
field team jumped two spots to No. 1 in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll.
The Gator men, ranked No. 3 heading into the league championships, return to the nation’s top spot for the first time since the April 20 poll. Florida, which was the preseason No. 1 outdoors, will be the nation’s top-ranked team for the fourth time in seven weeks this season, not including the preseason ranking. The Florida
women, who entered the conference meet ranked No. 10 and placed second at the SEC championships, moved up to the No. 6 spot in the national women’s poll.
Both the men’s and women’s programs have been ranked among the nation’s top 10 all season (indoors and outdoors). The SEC features four men's teams in the Top 10 and nine among the nation's Top 25.
The top ten are as follows: Florida, Oregon, Texas A&M, Southern Cal, LSU, Arizona State, Texas Tech, Florida State, Auburn, South Carolina
