Gator OL Matt Patchan to miss Gator Bowl with injury
Injuries have played Florida offensive tackle Matt Patchan much of his Gator career, and he's now dealing with another one.
Patchan, an Armwood alum, will not play in Monday's Gator Bowl due to an injury he suffered in practice Thursday afternoon.
Florida coach Will Muschamp said during Saturday's Gator Bowl press conference that Patchan injured a lat muscle in his back and will not be available for the game.
“He had a lat injury'' Muschamp said. "It’s on his back, a re-aggravation of something during the season. We had a physical bowl practice and preparation for what we’re trying to do to improve our football team and get ready for the game. It’s an unfortunate injury.''
With Patchan out, Chaz Green, Xavier Nixon and Kyle Koehne will rotate at the tackle position, Muschamp said.
Patchan has suffered multiple injuries since arriving in Gainesville. He missed all of last season with a hand and wrist injury that required multiple surgeries. He has played in all 12 games this season, getting starts in the final seven.
