At Sacramento High, Shine played against several of the players on Pacific's team. During her senior season, Shine led SHS to a 28-7 record and averaged 16.4 points, 4.5 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 3.7 steals per game. She is expected to have a number of friends and family members in the stands  including her parents Sheila and Brian Shine.

Tonight's game is the first meeting between Florida and Pacific, and Florida's second true road game of the season. The Gators defeated San Francisco Wednesday night, 91-68.

Pacific has won its last three games entering Friday’s contest, having dropped a pair of road games to start the season, including a loss to  No. 2 UConn.

"I think Pacific is feeling good about the way they are playing right now,” UF coach Amanda Butler said. “We haven’t had a lot of time to prepare for them so it’s going to be important for us to play Florida defense.”

Following tonight's game, the Gators will take an 11-day break. Florida returns to the court on Dec. 20 for the annual Gator Fall Classic which will include Charleston Southern, Maine and Duquesne.
