Gators arrive in Jacksonville to begin final preparations for Gator Bowl

JACKSONVILLE- Florida arrived in Jacksonville Tuesday to begin preparations for the Jan. 2 Gator Bowl with its entire team intact, but senior WR Deonte Thompson and senior RB Jeff Demps did not participate in the hour-long afternoon practice. Gators coach Will Muschamp said Thompson was sick and remained at the team hotel, and Demps had to attend to a personal matter and will join the team today.

"Everybody here and accounted for,’’ Muschamp said. “We did a good job academically. I'm proud of our players, and we had no issues.’’

Muschamp said the Gators spent much of the bowl practices in Gainesville working on fundamentals, but that the game plan for Ohio State is already in place this week. While the Buckeye's did not practice on Tuesday, Muschamp said he felt it was important for the Gators to get an extra day in.
