Gators begin final week of preseason preparations
With one week remaining before officially moving into game-week mode, Florida coach Will Muschamp said his staff will begin tailoring this week toward more normalcy after two weeks of preseason camp.
The Gators have today off as the first day of fall classes begins. On Sunday, there were meetings and the annual team photo shoot. But after today, Muschamp said it's back to serious preparations, which will include getting ready for the Gators' first opponent a few days earlier than normal.
"We'll have a good prep day Tuesday as far as things maybe we didn't see on either side of the ball in camp,'' he said. "Wednesday we'll have another scrimmage. I think we need to go out and be functional again offensively and defensively, get things in and out. And then Thursday and Friday we'll start on Florida Atlantic so we've got two extra days to prepare for our first ballgame.''
The Gators will host Florida Atlantic in the season opener on Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
