Gators' Billy Donovan makes appeal for more fairness in league scheduling
Add Florida coach Billy Donovan to the growing list of SEC coaches who want league officials to take a serious look at how conference schedules are devised. The SEC’s lucrative television package with ESPN means more exposure than ever for basketball, but at what cost? Some league coaches believe there must be a better balance when scheduling teams now that the SEC consistently plays Thursday-Saturday-Tuesday matchups.
Donovan said SEC coaches agreed some sacrifices were necessary by all of the league teams in terms of scheduling to help facilitate the new TV deal, but now teams are being put at a disadvantage by the scheduling, Donovan and other league coaches said.
Listen to Donovan explain his position, which he said is about what's best for the entire league not just Florida. Florida will play five games in the next 13 days.
