Gators' Caleb Sturgis on Groza Watch List



Florida kicker Caleb Sturgis has been named to the Lou Groza Award watch list, the award given annually to the nation's best kicker. Watch List candidates were selected based on stats from the 2009 season, and 2010 preseason expectations.

Fifteen out of the 30 kickers chosen for the award are semifinalists returning from 2009. The Pac-Ten leads the conferences with six players on the list and the ACC and SEC have landed five kickers each.

The top three finalists for the award will be selected by Nov. 22. The national winner which will be announced Dec. 9 during the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show.

Sturgis was named a semifinalist for the award last year. He has handled all kickoff duties the past two years and has made 22 of his 30
field goal attempts and 44 of his 47 PATs.

Florida’s Judd Davis won the award in 1993.
