Gators' Calvin Smith competes tonight at USA Outdoor Track Championships
Florida sprinter Calvin Smith, the former Freedom High standout, placed second in his heat Thursday to automatically advance to the semifinals of tonight's men's 400-meter dash at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The event is being held at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa, and Smith will compete tonight at 7.
Smith clocked a time of 45.84 in the 400-meter first round.
