Gators currently at No. 1 in men's competition of Capital One Cup standings

By securing an NCAA title in men's track and field this past weekend, Florida currently sits at No. 1 in the Capital One Cup sports standings with one championship remaining to be decided (baseball).

The Gators have 89 points, followed by LSU with 78, North Carolina with 75, Alabama 72 and Kentucky 70. None of those schools have a team headed to the College World Series this week so they will not earn additional points this season.

On the women's side, the Florida women finished sixth in the Cup standings. Stanford (152.5), UCLA (110), Duke (83), LSU (80) and USC (77) round out the top five.

Florida did not finish among the Top 10 in men's or women's standings in the Fall sports category.

The Capital One Cup is awarded annually to each of the best men’s and women’s Division I college athletics programs in the country. Points toward the Capital One Cup are earned and tracked throughout the year based on final standings of NCAA Championships and final official coaches’ polls'

Capital One annually awards a combined $400,000 in student-athlete scholarships and the Capital One Cup trophy to the winning schools at the ESPYs in July.
