Gators dedicate Outback Bowl victory to cancer patient

1

January

When Saturday's Outback Bowl game was over, the first thing Florida coach Urban Meyer talked about wasn't himself or his team.

It was about a young man named Ian Lockwood, who has become an inspirational part of the Florida team.

Lockwood gave an inspirational pep talk to the Gator football team before the Gators left the team hotel Saturday morning.

After the game, Meyer and MVP safety Ahmad Black presented Lockwood with the game ball.

A receiver from Navarre High School, Lockwood is battling brain cancer. Between trips from home and Shands Hospital in Gainesville Lockwood was often on the sideline for Gator games in Gainesville.

In his final high school game on Oct. 8 before undergoing treatment, Lockwood scored the first two rushing touchdowns of his career as the Raiders went on to defeat Milton, 49-20.

Here is Meyer during his postgame interview speaking about Lockwood before presenting the game ball.
