Gators expect to get injured payers back for LSU game
Florida OL Chaz Green (Tampa Catholic) missed his second straight game with an ankle injury on Saturday, but is expected to be ready to play vs. LSU, coach Will Muschamp said Monday. Gator DL Dominique Easley (knee), WR/RB Trey Burton (back spasms) and TE Jordan Reed (head injury) are also expected to be ready for the LSU game.
“How much they will do this week, we'll determine that as the week goes, but I think all of those guys should be fine,’’ Muschamp said.
LB Jelani Jenkins (broken thumb) is expected to meet with doctors this week. But his status for next week is still unknown.
"Jelani Jenkins I'll know more later in the week, I don't right now,'' Muschamp said. "I don't have the information right now, so I think he sees the doctor Wednesday.''
OL Matt Patchan (Armwood) has missed all four games with a strained pectoral muscle and slight muscle tera, but Muschamp said while there is no timetable for his return, he could be back in about three weeks.
"I expect him to play this year, certainly do," Muschamp said. "Again, we’re evaluating him right now and again, if we played this week, no. Probably not LSU. But maybe the week after. That’s what I’m hoping based on meeting with our medical staff yesterday, didn’t have him on the list there. They felt like all of those guys should be fine but matt, probably not for LSU, but we’re holding to hopefully get him some work next week, not this week but next week on the field. How healthy he’ll be at that point I don’t know. But again it’s a pec strain. He had some tear on the muscle. It’s a painful injury and up front you’ve got to be able to use that to be able to block. Rehab has gone well, he’s worked extremely hard as far as that’s concerned. We’re just hoping to get some snaps. But he will play this year, yes."
