Gators to face dangerous return man in Georgia's Brandon Boykin

When Florida coach Urban Meyer detailed this week his lengthy list of concerns about his team right now, special teams was one of the few areas Meyer said has been working fairly well for the Gators. Florida's kickoff coverage team is No. 2 in the SEC (behind No. 1 Georgia).

That unit may face its toughest challenge yet this week against Georgia's Brandon Boykin.

The junior CB/return specialist has had three 100-yard kickoff returns in his career - twice this season - becoming the first player in SEC history to have two 100-yard kickoff returns for touchdowns in the same season.

Boykin had one against South Carolina and one at Tennessee. Boykin has three kickoff returns for touchdowns this season, joining Vanderbilt's Warren Norman (2009) and Tennessee's Willie Gault (1980) atop the SEC list for kickoff returns for touchdowns in a season.

"I’ve just been really blessed to have that opportunity, and definitely with the people that are on the team with me,'' Boykin said this week. "They’ve been on the kickoff return team for a couple of years and know how to do it, and what to do. The blocking has been tremendous. They are really doing the blocking and I’m just running the ball.’’

Boykin set the school record for kickoff return yardage last season with 988 yards on 38 returns.

"Kickoff, I think we're good,'' Meyer said. "And we face a great returner this week.''
