Gators to face yet another solid quarterback against Kentucky

For the fourth consecutive week the Gators will face a team with a quarterback that’s tough to contend with.

UK quarterback Maxwell Smith ranks second in the SEC and 16th nationally in total offense (316.3 yards per game), and is 34 yards short of gaining 1,000 passing yards – in three games. Kentucky has the No. 1 passing offense in the SEC.

Quinn said Kentucky poses a similar challenge as Tennessee's Tyler Bray last week. And as the competition increases over the next several weeks, including No. 2 LSU in two weeks, Gators defensive coordinator Dan Quinn said the challenge for the Florida secondary is to improve each week.

“There is a lot of similarity, especially with Tennessee and Kentucky, both of these teams really know how to throw the ball,'' Quinn said. "With Kentucky leading the SEC in passing, they know how to do it and they know how to throw it. It’s a real challenge for us as a defense this week moving forward.''
