They didn't come home with the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field national title, but the Gators can take some small consolation in their runner-up finish.

The Florida men's track and field team earned 15 All-America honors, the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has announced.

Senior sprinter Calvin Smith of Lutz ended his stellar career with two All-America honors to increase his career total to 18 (indoors and outdoors combined). That is the men’s school record for career All-America honors.

Florida had 15 athletes earn All-America honors, with LSU second (12). South Carolina, Arizona State and Southern Cal each had 11 All-America honors. National champion Texas A&M led the nation with 19.

USTFCCCA All-America honors are awarded as a result of a national top-eight finish at this past weekend’s NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore.

Included in the 15 All-America honors earned by Florida’s men are individual national championships by Jeff Demps in the 100-meter dash, Christian Taylor in the triple jump and the men’s 4x100-meter relay.
