Gators' game against Fairfield canceled
The weather in the northeast has wreaked havoc on travel, and the Florida basketball team now finds itself affected.
The Gators' Tuesday night game against Fairfield has been canceled due to travel issues related to the northeast snow storms. The heavy snow and airport closures made it impossible for Fairfield to make the trip to Gainesville. The game was scheduled to be played at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
"We're certainly disappointed for our fans that the game had to be canceled, but it wasn't for any lack of effort from Fairfield trying to get here,'' UF coach Billy Donovan said. "It was conditions that were out of everyone's hands. Ed Cooley (Fairfield coach) is a good friend and I know they tried everything possible to get here and it just didn't work out.''
There will be no makeup date.
All season and single-game ticket purchasers will receive an automatic refund of their tickets purchased for the game.
