Gators hoping to get QB John Brantley back in practice for Georgia week

The bye week may give Florida an opportunity to possibly get its starting QB back for the Georgia game.

The operative word, however, is possibly.

Florida coach Will Muschamp said today that it's possible Brantley could return to practice on Monday, the start of full preparations for the Oct. 29 Georgia game. The senior QB suffered a high ankle sprain at the end of the first half against Alabama and missed the LSU and Auburn games.

"John won't practice this week, but we hope to get him back on Monday,'' Muschamp said during Tuesday's weekly media session. "He's off crutches and moving around a little bit. We're going to get him out there and let him throw a little bit this week, but as far as practice is concerned, we're going to hold him and hope to get him back Monday.''

Muschamp said the biggest issue for Brantley right now is his lateral movement, adding that with his ability to move straight ahead "he'll probably be okay.''

Muschamp said ultimately it wll be the decision of Brantley and the medical staff whether he can play.

"John, he's living in the training room the last three weeks,'' Muschamp said. "The last three weeks, he's been doing everything he can to get back.''
