Gators to lose LB Brendan Beal

Bredanbeal Florida redshirt sophomore LB Brendan Beal has asked for a release from his scholarship, school officials confirmed, and is expected to transfer."We have granted permission for other schools to contact Brendan Beal,'' Florida football spokesman Steve McClain said Monday morning.

Beal, 20, , was hampered by injuries throughout his time with the Gators.

The 6-foot-3, 246 pound former four-star recruit from Bangor, PA, enrolled in January 2008 but missed the entire season after he tore the ACL in his left knee. He did not see any action in 2009 after suffering another injury during preseason drills.

Beal is a former Parade All-American and a USA Today High School first team defensive All-American.
