Gators lose strength and conditioning coach to San Antonio Spurs

Florida men's basketball strength and conditioning coach Matt Herring has left the program to become the Director of Athletic Performance with the San Antonio Spurs.

Herring joins the Spurts after spending the past five years as the strength and conditioning coordinator for the University of Florida men’s basketball and men’s and women’s golf programs. He was an integral part of the Gators back-to-back national championships in 2006 and 2007. Prior to his stint in Gainesville, he helped the Oklahoma State Cowboys men’s basketball program reach the 2004 Final Four. He arrived at Oklahoma State University after spending two years as an intern at the University of Texas.

“I'm very happy for Matt and his family,'' UF coach Billy Donovan said. "This is an opportunity with a great organization and a chance to be closer to his family. Matt has contributed a large part to our success here, and we appreciate what he's invested in our program and our players over the last seven years.”
