Gators now No. 3 in both polls
Florida is officially No. 3 in both polls this week, rising one spot in the USA Today Coaches Poll and remaining at No. 3 in the Associated Press poll.
Alabama remains No. 1 for a school-record eight consecutive weeks, and Oregon is No. 2.
But Florida is gaining on the Ducks. The Ducks received 50 of 59 second-place votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll after defeating No. 24 Arizona State this past Thursday night. But the eight other No. 2 votes went to the Gators after their 44-11 win over South Carolina. Florida overtook Kansas State by three poll points. Kansas State is No. 4.
Alabama received 59 of 60 first-place votes from the media panel. The Tide has twice previously been No. 1 for seven consecutive weeks in 1979 when Bear Bryant coached Alabama to a national title and in 1980 when the Tide finished sixth.
Oregon is No. 2 in the AP poll for the fifth consecutive week. South Carolina slipped to No. 16 in the Coaches Poll, No. 17 in the AP poll.
