Gators OL Nick Alajajian out for season with knee injury
Florida has suffered its first serious injury of the season. Reserve OL Nick Alajajian has suffered a fractured right knee and is out for his senior season, coach Will Muschamp said. Muschamp said he and Alajajian have not had time to discuss a possible medical redshirt.
Also, sophomore RB Chris Johnson suffered a neck injury earlier in the week, but Muschamp said he's recovered.
“He had a little bit of a sprained neck,'' Muschamp said. "Our medical staff, we take all the precautionary (measures). He’s fine. He’ll be back here today. He’ll be back in practice today.”
And with the loss of Ja'Juan Story, the Brooksville WR who has decided to transfer, the Gators are down to seven scholarship wide receivers
"We’ll be fine,'' Muschamp said. "You always go into the season preparing yourself for what you have on campus. When you start relying on the unknown, that’s not always a good thing.''
Muschamp said he accepted Story's decision to leave, and the two have agreed on the terms of the transfer, but the coach would not say what those stipulations are. He said he handles transfer requests on a case-by-case basis.
“Different situations and different people,'' Muschamp said. "Again, Ja’Juan came to be and made some good points. He just felt like it wasn’t a fit for him. That’s fine. I get that. I understand that. At the end of the day, I want the young man to be happy and I’m going to help the young many anyway I can. University of Florida, being a Gator, isn’t for everybody.”
