Gators' Rainey honored by SEC

Florida junior RB/return specialist Chris Rainey has been named the SEC Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced today.

Rainey had a major impact in Florida's 55-14 win over Vanderbilt this past Saturday.

He blocked two Vanderbilt punts and led the Gators with 136 all-purpose yards. His first block was recovered at the Vanderbilt three yard line and led to UF's first score to give the Gators a 7-0 lead. The second block was returned 42 yards by Solomon Patton to give UF a 41-0 lead.

Rainey also returned two punts for 39 yards and a kickoff for 14 yards. Rainey also shared the team lead with four catches for 75 yards with a 40-yard TD reception.

"He's playing great for us right now,'' OL Mike Pouncey said.
