Gators SS Nolan Fontana and P Steven Rodriguez slected in second round of MLB Draft

74.jpgFlorida junior SS Nolan Fontana has been selected in the second round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft, the 61st overall selection. Pitcher Steven Rodriguez was selected 82nd overall by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Florida has now had four players selected in this year's draft. Catcher Mike Zunino and P/DH Brian Johnson were selected in Monday's first round.

Fontana has started 62 games for the Gators this season, with a .294 batting average, 30 RBI and nine home runs. He was named to last weekend's NCAA Regional All-Tournament team.

Rodriguez is 3-2 with a 2.08 ERA this season. He also has four saves in 32 appearances.

The Gators will open NCAA Super Regional play against NC State on Saturday, at 2 p.m., at McKethan Stadium in Gainesville. The game will be televised live on ESPNU.
