Gators, Vols meet in SEC East showdown tonight

Florida is playing its first SEC road game of the season tonight against Tennessee at Thompson-Boling Arena - a venue that hasn’t been kind to the Gators.

The Vols have won five straight against the Gators in Knoxville. Florida’s offensive struggles are improving as it has averaged 77.3 points during the past three games.

The Vols are coming off a 68-65 loss to Arkansas and will be playing without suspended head coach Bruce Pearl, but UF coach Billy Donovan said he expects Tennessee to rise to the challenge of playing Florida.

"We’re playing against a team that is very-very deep, very talented, very athletic a team that’s had some great, great wins this year, I think like we have,'' Donovan said.  "And maybe you’ve had some games where people look at some games they should have won but didn’t; the same thing is said about us. But I think anytime that you go on the road and playing in a game like this, it's always a challenge. I think we have had a couple games this year where we have gone into some difficult environments in Tallahassee (Florida State) and Xavier and I think our guys have an understanding of what playing on the road is all about. But we have to play well and play better than we did when we played against Ole Miss and I thought Ole Miss on Saturday played a terrific game. But now we get into an Eastern conference opponent.''
