Gators' Will Muschamp has no regrets about keeping things under wraps

Upon further review, Florida coach Will Muschamp has no regrets about closing practices and trying his best to keep as much as possible under wraps.

The first-year Florida coach closed both spring and fall practices, as has become the custom at many schools these days. He said by doing so, he's been able to better control what information is made public about what's going on with the Gators' practices.

He believes the element of surprise will be a benefit for Florida, at least this season.

"That's why we've closed everything,'' he said. "I do think it's an advantage for us this season not to show. What is Charlie (Weis, offensive coordinator) doing? Is he doing what he did at Notre Dame? Kansas City? New England? How is he using this guy? This guy? This guy?
This guy? And this guy? We put a wild rumor out there about Wildcat. So defensively, are we doing Dan Quinn or Will Muschamp? Are we 3-4 or 4-3? I don't  know. That's why we've closed things.''

Muschamp has met with the media every few days to update injuries, give status reports, and provide his assessment of which players are excelling. He has also updated depth chart information.

But exactly what the Gators will look like won't be revealed until Sept. 3. And that's just the way Muschamp designed it.
